It's hard to take a standpoint in the debate of native vs mobile apps, where everyone are looking at the guise of smartphone development. Well if we are only going to build our future on mobile app development then count me in to jump into the wagon of assumptions. The technology landscape is growing wild and challenging data to expand beyond the small screen. Be it Google glass or Smart TV, we got to admit the fact that apps development is at the cross roads of new and exciting interfaces that mostly uses HTML5 .
Lets take a closer look at the age-old debate that never goes away - Native Apps vs Web Apps. Native apps downloaded to our devices provide faster user experience - even when offline, better security and can be monetised while Web apps provides constant improving features, reasonable development cost and no approval from app store to access.
There is an interesting article by Business Insider, which talks about mobile consumers and how they love native apps because of the excellent user experience and speedy performance. Its easy to conclude Native apps rule the market with monetization opportunities.
HTML5 web apps, on the other hand, are becoming a fast favorite among enterprise platforms, and a growing number of hugely popular apps are being built around HTML5. Reason ? HTML5 app creation is sustainable- writing apps in different languages for each hosted platform is too costly, and less flexible, while HTML5 based apps are cheaper to create and for all the reasons I have writtern here. Last but not least the developers love the easy life, and thats HTML5 for you.
It's only going to get better for HTML5, numerous app developers are already implementing HTML5 into 'hybrid' native apps too, while Facebook and LinkedIn have done as such in the past. I leave you with this video from TechEd 2013 and Welcome to the rise of planet of Apps !
Thanks for stopping by, You are awesome!
