Playing nice with CSS tools and Methodologies

A lot of coding best practises emphasise keeping code lean and well organised. The general practises within HTML5 / CSS are no different. The goal is to write well-structured and standards-compliant markup. The guidelines described here provide a intensive discussion on HTML5 CSS coding practises. These coding practises serve as an overarching framework for writing and maintaining CSS.  However not all best practises are good for a particular project, and sometimes it does not help but create more complications for the project.

This video from HTML5 Developers conference covers the following aspects CSS methodologies and best practises such as CSS Semantics, OOCSS, Grid Systems, SASS, LESS, (and more) exist to guide us towards making more efficient and more maintainable CSS. However some of these tools and ideas have conflicting ideas and when their methodologies are not understood well enough, we can even do more harm with them then without. This talk aims to expose the pros and cons of some of the most widely accepted CSS best practises, which ones contradict others, and which ones compliment others.

So how do you manage the CSS ? what are the best practises that you use in your project ? does some of the semantics and grid systems mentioned in the video suits your project ? Please leave your comments in the section below. If you found this article to be useful, I urge you to share it with your friends.
